Er...

Posted two snippets of what I've been up to on my DA gallery; a bit of what the shading looks like - it's completed, by the way - and what the lettering is going to look like. I'm writing it myself instead of typing it, so it's shaky. But I'll figure it out.

Blah blah blah, school eats my life, blah blah blah... you get it.
(Yes, I did graduate in May. I've gone back to school, so that I can eventually teach in one. What is wrong with me.)

Papers finished...check.
Graduation completed...check.

Now back to the important stuff. I'll do a progress update just as soon as I figure out where I left off.

...So much for being done early on in the new year. Things are officially on hold until I get this 40+ pages of essays cleared out of the way.
Graduation can not come soon enough.

Whoa. I last updated this in July? I could have sworn I'd been around since then, but I guess not (so thanks for the nudge, or this could have gone on for another couple of weeks).

...*cough*

Anyway. Shading is about 70% finished, and since I'm done with exams and there are no more papers to write, I'm counting on having the chapter done around New Year's. I'll post the link when I get it set up - I don't think I'll be posting on the old website. Most likely I'll set up somewhere else.

And... that's it for now. :) See you in 2009.

(EDIT - December 30)
Computer troubles have pushed me back by a few days. To make a long and frustrating story short, I got a virus and had to restore my operating system. All my files are safe, but it took a while to get everything set up again.

Sorry for the long wait between updates - time sure flies when you're having fun, huh?

Give or take a few panels, the shading's about a third finished, maybe a bit more. I'll scan and post a few more preview snippets when I'm not so sleepy. (Why do I update this thing so late at night, anyway?)

EDIT: The promised snippets, in no particular order. )

2 pages shaded.

(Still have a bit of inking left to do, but I'll get to it when I get to it.)

Inking: 80-90ish% complete. I've stopped counting.

I've begun lettering/shading the inked pages. Had a brief moment of panic when my 5-year-old tablet seemed to have stopped working, but soon discovered it was only the pen. And I was able to acquire a replacement pen pretty quickly. So, all in all, things are going pretty well. I've got a picture I want to put up, but I'll do that in the morning.

Inking: About 70% complete.

Backgrounds and such make up most of the uncompleted 30%.
Icky things, backgrounds.

Inking: About 60% complete.

I had final exams between the last update and now, so hopefully I can be excused a little slackness in the inking progress, maybe?
I'll post another update soon.

Inking: About 50% complete. I'll post previews in the morning, when I'm not so sleepy.

EDIT: Okay, there are some unfinished and mostly sketchy bits of panels under this cut. )
You might notice that they are not computer-drawn, this time around. I did the pencilling with a real pencil, and the inking with real ink - brush and pen. The shading and lettering are still going to be done by computer, though.

It's going to be a little harder to keep track of the progress bar while I'm inking, as I don't do a whole page at once like I do when I'm pencilling. I'll just have to estimate. So... I estimate inking is about... 30% complete. I'll probably start scanning in some preview panels soon.

Also, I have some gimmickry for you. Someone in the Artists Alley at Animaritime this year had a display of these things called 'hangies', which were basically cutouts of anime characters drawn to look as if they were held up by the back of their coat/shirt. They were pretty cute.
So, without further ado, here are some Whither hangies. )
